Shubham Gill, Vijay Shankar included in the one-day squad for tours of AUS vs IND

India has made changes to their one-day squad for the series against Australia. Lokesh Rahul and Hardik Pandya will return to India following their controversial remarks during a chat show on the television. All-rounder Vijay Shankar and batsman Shubman Gill have been named as a replacement for the one-day series. The duo will also be a part of the one-day squad for New Zealand that will begin from 23rd January.

Vijay Shankar will travel to Australia to join the national side ahead of the second game of the one-day series against Australia. Shubham Gill will the join the side on the tour of New Zealand that will see India play five one-day internationals followed three T20s.

BCCI took immediate notice when Hardik Pandya and Lokesh Rahul made objectionable comments during the chat show aired on television. The duo will be given a seven-day period to explain their remarks on the television. The BCCI will carry out the inquiry as per the Rule 41 of the board constitution.

Shubham Gill has fond memories of touring New Zealand as he was named man of the tournament during India triumph in the U-19 Cricket World Cup played last year. The 19-year old made a name for himself and scored heavily at the domestic level for Punjab. He also scored a lot of runs for India A side. Last year, he was able to bag lucrative IPL contract with Kolkata Knight Riders. The consistency in the last 12 month has resulted in Gill earning his maiden call-up to the national side.

On the other hand, all-rounder Vijay Shankar has played five T20 games for India during the Nidahas Trophy played in Sri Lanka last year. He was always dubbed as like for like replacement for Hardik Pandya and also did well for India A on the tour of New Zealand.
