Australia aim for a strong comeback at Perth
On the other hand, Australia will be keen to make a strong comeback after losing the first game in Adelaide. The conditions in Perth will favor the hosts but the batting will need to improve considerably for them to level the four-match Test series. Tim Paine will need to concentrate hard so that the side can produce the right results in the coming game.
AUS vs IND 2nd Test Team News
The focus will be on the likes of Aaron Finch and Usman Khawaja, who did nothing with the bat in the series opener. Finch will be under scrutiny after not doing well in the past few months. He will be keen to get a score here in this game and prove his critics wrong. Left-handed batsman Usman Khawaja will need to take the positive route for this game. He seriously needs to play his natural game and look to assert himself on the opposition.
Debutant Marcus Harris will be keen to prove a point after a no-show in Adelaide. Travis Head scored a gritty half-century in the first innings. Peter Handscomb will need to score if he wants to retain his place in XI for the remainder of the series.
Mitchell Starc has been out-of-form over the past few months but a spicy surface should help the quick find his mojo with the ball. Nathan Lyon has been excellent and once again was a standout bowler for Australia in Adelaide.
On the other hand, Openers Murali Vijay and Lokesh Rahul will need to put up decent scores in this game. Rahul has looked out of sorts in the last couple of games and will be desperate to get a score in Perth. Cheteshwar Pujara looked in splendid form and scored half of the team’s runs in Adelaide. He will be keen to continue his rich vein of form in this game as well.
Indian skipper Virat Kohli had a rare failure in the first game and will be keen to get back to his best in the next game. Ajinkya Rahane also notched up a crucial half-century in the second innings to help India post a competitive score for Australia to win the game.
India might go in with four specialist pace bowlers given that Perth does not offer much for spinners. Ravichandran Ashwin might be replaced by Umesh Yadav or Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
