His was letdown by the franchise in 2018 Indian Premier League auction as the price offered was below his expectations.

Sunrisers Hyderabad released a statement on Monday and stated that Shikhar Dhawan was not happy with the price offered to him at the franchise and has been traded to Delhi Daredevils. The franchise faced a tricky situation in the last year’s Player auction as Dhawan was not happy with the money offered to him by franchise.

However, Sunrisers Hyderabad appreciated the services offered by Shikhar Dhawan for the franchise over past couple of years. In a press release, Dhawan was lauded for his outstanding contribution and termed as instrumental in helping the franchise achieve a lot of success in the last three years.

Dhawan had to struggle a lot in the initial years of Indian Premier League. He was picked up by Mumbai Indians, where he failed to make an impact with the bat. He scored only 241 runs in 15 games during his two-season contract with Mumbai.

The left-hander enjoyed his best years with Sunrisers Hyderabad after joining the franchise in 2012. He has been consistent performer for the side in the Indian Premier League alongside Australia’s David Warner.

Dhawan certainly formed a lethal combination at the top of the innings for the franchise in the Indian Premier League. He has been leading-run scorer for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League and has amassed 2768 runs from 91 games played in the competition.
