South Africa completed a 3-0 clean sweep in the one-day series. The hosts will now turn their attention to the T20 format as they take on Zimbabwe in the first game of the series to be played on 9th October at Buffalo Park, East London. There is little doubt that South Africa are overwhelming favorites for the T20I series.

Dale Steyn made an emphatic return to limited-overs cricket but won’t participate in this three-match T20 series. The team management will be trying to field new faces like Junior Dala, Robbie Frylinck and uncapped Rassie Van der Dussen.

Quinton de Kock makes a return to the side and is set to open the innings with Rassie Van der Dussen. Debutant Rassie Van der Dussen did play a couple of games for St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the recently concluded Caribbean Premier League. JP Duminy is premier player for South Africa in the T20 format. It might be a tossup between David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen for a place in the final XI. Christiaan Jonker will play the game as he will be keen to showcase his big hitting abilities with the bat.

Junior Dala and Lungi Ngidi will be the new-ball attack for this game. Andile Phehlukwayo will be the third seamer for this game. Imran Tahir produced a splendid performance in the one-day series and will be keen to continue his good form with the ball in the T20 format. Tabraiz Shamsi will play as second spinner in this game.

On the other hand, Zimbabwe will be looking to do better in this T20 series after a poor show in the three-match one-day series. Captain Hamilton Masakadza will be desperate to find form and get runs in this game. Solomon Mire has been excellent with the bat for Zimbabwe so far this year and has scored 248 runs from 6 matches at an average of 41.33 with two half-centuries to his name.

Tarisai Musakanda, Chamu Chibhabha, and Elton Chigumbura are T20 Specialists and will need to deliver runs with the bat. Brendan Taylor is an experienced player in the lineup and will need to produce something substantial to help Zimbabwe give a strong fight to South Africa.

Tendai Chisoro and Brandon Mavuta are pace options for the side in this opening game. Kyle Jarvis and Chris Mpofu will form the new-ball attack for Zimbabwe.

South Africa vs Zimbabwe 2018 will see plenty of young faces tying to make an impression on the international stage.
