Cricket South Africa (CSA) announced the official six teams and their names for the inaugural Mzansi Super League.
The six franchises that will participate in the competition will be played Cape Town Blitz, Durban Heat, Nelson Mandela Bay Giants, Jozi Stars, Paarl Rocks, and Tshwane Spartans.
Faf Du Plessis has named as marquee player for Paarl Rocks. AB De Villiers for Tshwane Spartans and Hashim Amla for Durban Heat are marquee players for the competition. Cape Town Blitz have named JP Duminy as their marquee player while Kagiso Rabada is the marquee player for Jozi Stars. Nelson Mandela Bay Giants have roped in Imran Tahir as their marquee player.
Mzansi Super League is scheduled to be begin from 16th November as a total of 32 games will be played in the competition. Cricket South Africa Chief Executive Thabang Moroe said all the stakeholders are satisfied with the way league is being carried and every effort is being made to make sure it is a big success this year.
A player draft will soon take place at Johannesburg to see which foreign players will take part in Mzansi Super League. Names like Eoin Morgan, Jason Roy, Chris Gayle, Dawid Malan, Rashid Khan, and Dwayne Bravo are some of the big players that might be sold in the player draft event that will take held in Johannesburg.
Cricket South Africa said that they close to 200 international cricketers are willing to take part in this year’s Mzansi Super League and will have their names in the Player draft process event.
CSA Chief Thabang More said that there are many challenges that lie for the inaugural T20 League as various international fixtures will take place at that time of the year. South Africa’s national player might skip the early part of the competition due to their tour to Australia that will begin in November.
